Game Summary: Lonely Hearts 4th Wall Event: An event where Zephyr has woven many dreams together, allowing people from different worlds to interact in the same dream-like setting. Personal dreams were also accessible through doors in the trunks of the dream trees, allowing two or more people to share a specific dream, rather than remaining in the hub dream.
How long was your character in Game: Event threads have been going for about a month?
History of Character in their Game:
Masaki is pulled into the event shortly after losing her Quincy powers, but prior to her death. She'd been in the middle of trying to protect her 9-year old son from a monster called a hollow. Arriving in the dream-like world, Masaki isn't entirely sure what's going on, but her first instinct is to find her son.
Having no luck in locating any other dreamers, Masaki instead comes across a tree containing a bunch of doors in its trunk. While attempting to search one of them, she's promptly dumped into a dream memory from the moment that she was pulled from. However, there's no hollow this time, only her son standing in the rain on the bank of the river where she left him. Due to the strong resemblance to her surroundings from just before she was taken, Masaki starts to wonder if the hollow and the dream world were all some kind of strange vision.
It's quickly revealed to her that it wasn't a vision when her son turns out to be much older--and not actually her son. The dream shifts, allowing her to see Zangetsu, a manifestation of hollow and shinigami powers that shares half of her son's soul. He bluntly informs her of her death--eight years ago for him, but only moments ago for her. This begins a pattern of Zangetsu dropping very heavy bits of information on her in quick succession, leaving her in a constant state of feeling overwhelmed. Though she agrees to go with him for the sake of finding her son, she maintains a great deal of reservations about who and what he is.
They find their way back to the main hub of the dream world, as their conversation continues around shinigamis and hollows and quincies. After a while, they knock down some fruit from a tree to have a bite to eat, and Masaki starts to relax a little around him. Little by little, she starts to recognize Zangetsu as someone familiar to her, though she still doesn't attribute it to being her son. More than anything, they simply connect well with their thoughts and their sense of humor. It also helps that Masaki is unconsciously selective about what she chooses to keep in mind of Zangetsu's background. She begins to see him as a piece of shinigami power, while shutting out the hollow portion entirely.
However, the peaceful moment between them is ruined when the conversation escalates on the topic of Soul Society. Ultimately, Zangetsu calls Masaki out for overlooking the hollow part of him, leaving her without much of a rebuttal. The whole thing unsettles her, and the two of them resume their search in uneasy silence.
Unfortunately, they're separated shortly after by a twist of physics, leaving Masaki stranded and alone in the dream forest. With nothing else to go on, she keeps walking, hoping to find some sign of Zangetsu again--or of Ichigo himself.
She ends up running across a number of people that she takes the time to assist, including Hadrian, Recette, and Sigma. She also finds Ales, after the tiny man makes an unnecessary dash across the forest floor. It's only due to the dreamlike quality of the forest that she doesn't find his appearance more strange than it is. Instead, she stops for a while to make sure that he's alright and to ask about his home.
She also comes across Pokey Minch, who Zangetsu had also previously run into. He doesn't recognize her as the woman that Zangetsu was looking for, however, and they get to talking about the various universes out there--and who may or may not actually be aliens.
How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?)
Masaki is the kind of person that doesn't change easily. She's strong and outgoing with an upbeat personality. She doesn't tend to dwell on situations, but rather pushes forward until she finds a way that she can do something about them. As noted in a few of her sample tags, she doesn't consider herself a thinker. She can't be the person who sits back and analyzes a situation before stepping in. She can only do what she feels is right in her heart, and that means jumping in feet first and trusting that her instincts won't let her down.
During the course of this event, that gets shaken just a little bit. With the knowledge of her death and the pain and suffering that it laid on her family's shoulders, she's given a moment to wonder if she really made the right choices. All she's ever thought about is protecting her family and keeping them safe; but she can't help but feel like she should have been able to do something more. Something to prepare them for the tragedy that happened.
It leaves her feeling very unsettled and preoccupied with her own death. More-so than she might have been otherwise, if she'd been told that her family was coping well.
She's also shaken up by the hollow infestation that she passed to her son. Her decision to use herself as bait was supposed to be a risk to her and only her. It was never supposed to transfer to anyone else, and especially not her children. It's left her worried not only for Ichigo, but for her other two children as well. Basically, it's yet another case of her questioning actions that she had previously been so certain about.
But in addition to the hollow issue is Zangetsu's status as part shinigami power and part hollow power. She can clearly see that Zan is part-hollow, but chooses to simply not deal with that fact. She presses onward like always, shoving that knowledge aside in the process, and only confronting it when she's specifically called out for doing so. Even then, it leaves her feeling uneasy and at odds with instincts that tell her hollows are monsters and incompatible with a peaceful beings.
How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):
No physical changes.
Powers:
At the moment? None, if only because they were taken from her immediately before her death. Prior to that, she had the following Quincy abilities, and will most likely be wishing for them back:
Spiritual Perception
Masaki is capable of sensing concentrations of spiritual energy (or Reishi) around her. While free floating spirit energy tends to linger close to nature, humans and other intelligent beings have a much more concentrated amount which makes up their soul. Those beings with a high degree of spiritual power are capable of seeing spiritual energy--including things like ghosts, shinigami, and hollows.
Spiritual power also appears to have a 'signature' to it, in that when using Spiritual Perception, someone can locate a specific person if they know what their spiritual power feels like.
Reishi Manipulation
Unlike any other creature in Bleach, Quincies are capable of absorbing free-standing spiritual energy around them--that is, spiritual energy that has not been compacted into a soul or creature. By absorbing this energy, they can mix it with their own spiritual power and create spirit weapons. This almost always takes the form of a bow, which is their signature weapon, and is capable of firing shots of this combined spiritual energy/power. The more spiritual energy that they absorb from their surroundings, the more powerful the weapon can be.
It's also briefly mentioned that she has the ability to heal, though it's never mentioned how. However, this probably also draws on the same Reishi Manipulation powers, just not in a weaponized form.
Blut Vene
Blut is a special kind of Quincy ability that comes naturally to those of pure blood, though those with part-Quincy heritage can still learn to use it with training. It also stems from the Reishi Manipulation ability, but allows a Quincy to send that spiritual energy through their own body, enhancing their abilities in either an offensive or defensive manner--but never both at the same time.
Masaki is particularly skilled in defensive Blut, called Blut Vene. It's said that apart from her fight with the White hollow, Isshin never saw her sustain injuries from any battle afterwards--not until her powers were taken on the day that she died. Blut Vene forms a protective barrier across the user's skin, blocking any harmful abilities from causing injury. This ability is visible as a rigid blue network of veins that spread across the skin. It can also be used to staunch blood flow from wounds that have already been sustained. Blut Vene is a very strong ability, but it is capable of being torn apart with a significant amount of power.
Possessions:
Also none.
Please provide three samples from your previous game, at least one will have to be third person with context:
Sample One: Meets Zangetsu and promptly gets overwhelmed by the lack of tact.
Sample Two: Helps Hadrian out of a tree.
Sample Three: Meets Ales and tries not to offend the tiny blue man.
(Sample Four: Helps Sigma out of his dream world because something something poor old man.)
(Sample Five: Meets Pokey and talks about universes.)
Notes: I added more samples because I'm not sure which threads are going to pan out. I'm tagging back everything that I get, but I got a late start to the event, so I don't know who is still planning to continue threads.
