She listens to him to and puzzle out John's motive for a few minutes, concern growing heavier in her expression. Finally, she sets the letter aside on the table and reaches up to cup his cheek. "Or maybe he's not planning anything. Maybe he's simply... sincerely apologetic."
She knows that's not something he's normally used to. He's said as much already. But with John having made that first step, she feels the need to make sure that Zangetsu sees it as the good will that it is.
"It's okay to take him at his word. He says that he was wrong--that he judged you too quickly. All of that is true, and he's acknowledging that it's wrong.
